Position Overview
Matthew Sanscrainte Hospitality Group (MSHG) is seeking a high-performance, results-driven Director of Operations to oversee a growing national portfolio of hotel assets while executing 90-day distressed property turnarounds alongside the CEO.
This is not a traditional Director of Operations role—this is a strategic field leadership position embedded in the execution of MSHG’s core business model: rapid stabilization, operational restructuring, and performance acceleration.
You will operate as the CEO’s right hand in the field—traveling property to property, diagnosing operational failures, implementing systems, and ensuring measurable results across every department.

To stabilize, rebuild, and elevate distressed hotel assets within a 90-day cycle—driving improvements in:
• Revenue (ADR, RevPAR, Occupancy)
• Guest Satisfaction (SALT, OSAT, Problem Resolution)
• Operational Efficiency (Labor, MPOR, Flowthrough)
• Culture & Leadership Performance

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Oversight
• Oversee operational performance across multiple hotel and resort assets nationwide
• Analyze KPIs including RevPAR, ADR, labor costs, guest satisfaction, and departmental performance
• Provide strategic direction to on-site leadership teams (GMs, AGMs, Department Heads)
• Ensure alignment with brand standards and ownership expectations

90-Day Turnaround Execution
• Travel with the CEO to distressed properties to execute rapid turnaround strategies
• Conduct full operational audits across all departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B)
• Develop and implement structured 30-60-90 day action plans
• Drive immediate operational corrections and long-term performance sustainability
• Hold leadership teams accountable to measurable performance benchmarks

Leadership Development & Culture Transformation
• Rebuild leadership teams where necessary, including recruiting, training, and restructuring
• Instill MSHG’s culture of accountability, execution, and performance
• Lead daily stand-ups, executive meetings, and cross-departmental alignment sessions
• Mentor General Managers and department heads to operate at a high-performance level

Operational Excellence
• Ensure accuracy and discipline in key operational areas (room status integrity, labor controls, SOP adherence)
• Eliminate inefficiencies, operational breakdowns, and communication gaps
• Drive consistency across all departments and shifts
• Implement and enforce MSHG’s operational playbooks and systems

Client & Ownership Relations
• Interface directly with ownership groups, asset managers, and investors
• Present operational findings, progress reports, and performance outcomes
• Build trust through transparency, execution, and results

Travel & Deployment (80%)
• Travel extensively with the CEO to properties across the United States
• Be on-site for high-priority turnarounds and portfolio reviews
• Operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments requiring immediate decision-making
Requirements
Qualifications
• 8–15+ years of progressive hotel leadership experience
• Previous experience as a General Manager, Area Director, or Regional Director of Operations required
• Proven success in improving distressed or underperforming hotel assets
• Strong financial acumen (P&L, flowthrough, labor management, revenue strategy)
• Deep understanding of major hotel brand standards (Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, Choice)
• Ability to travel up to 80% of the time without restriction
• Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to command and rebuild teams
• Strong analytical, organizational, and execution skills
• Proficiency in hotel systems (Opera, OnQ/PEP, STR reporting, etc.)
